Roy, you need to take the headlining down completely. It is a bit of a fiddle but it releases from the trim around the sides and there are large 'buttons' in some places which you need to release as well as the sun visors, interior lights etc.
The base is a stiff card like material with a fabric covering and the adhesive has simply given way allowing the fabric to droop. You may be able to gently ease the fabric off in order to clean up the card and then re glue the fabric back. There are special adhesives on the market and Google will come up with plenty of sites. They are designed to withstand the heat from the roof. If the lining itself is a mess you can purchase the correct material in a variety of colours.  Smiley

I'm not sure what route Tompion took but I'm sure he will advise in due course.

Have a look at This Video .  and This advert

The problem is the foam backing crumbling. I would say don't try & glue your existing one back by injecting glue or whatever because if it doesn't work it makes it much harder to clean the board. I'd removed a roof light where mine had sagged and sprayed some glue in but it didn't stick. When I changed the cloth it took much longer scrapping off the small area of rotten foam & recent glue than it did to scrape all of the rest of the board.
Yours will be easier without a sunroof & being a saloon although possibly more difficult juggling out a door compared to getting the bigger estate board straight out the back.
You should be able to get the lining out of a saloon without removing any pillar trims a pdf is here:
http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/interior/trim/headlining.pdf

The video posted by Simmo is one of the ones I used as a guide, there are others so look at several - don't try the method by Kevin Tetz & Eastwood if your using foam backed but worth viewing.

You'll find ebay sellers & other companies that will send samples.

I'll post more details later & what glue & cloth I used.

Thanks Scorpio type people!
I might have to get this done with a trimming specialist as it seems a heck of a job! trouble is I am thinking of moving this car on and being dealer serviced and low miles on it  so it's got to be a nice job.
