Post by J_A_SHORE on Mar 25th, 2006, 5:59pm
Hi all I have just found out what one of  the problem on my 12valve v6 ultima. Whas.

I have had the car one month it has always pulled back at moter way speeds, when lifting my foot of the gas.
Althouge runing well on pressing down again.

I have had the car serviced by a local friends,  garage,  one of his lads did it.They did say fords where not what they specilised in. The car still did not perform  corectly I have cleaned out all the vac pipes , cleaned various electrical conections, changed the biro metric presure switc., Still not right . Today I decided to check all the spark plug  leads
The last one on  plug 6,  had no continuty . changed it,  and low and behold the car is  now drivng normly.

I am amasied,  it was not spoted,  the car did drive fine at low speeds and on acselration,  even though on 5 pots.

any thoughts on weater I will get better mpg, and wheter long term the pot 6 will have been dameged.

Well done for getting it sorted mate.
I bought my 2.9 12v Scorp with a suspected blown head gasket, this had been diagnosed by a FMD. The overheating problem was due to the thermostat being stuck. £7.50 and less than an hours work and she was runing as sweat as a nut! As you say Dont miss the basics.
I would be interested in MPG from others also, mine is getting about 20mpg on short trips to and from work and about town. Mike.

Sounds about right I am getting 21/22 around town, but get low 30's on a very good run up the motorway with cruise on full to empty on a good run 430/450miles .
This doesn't happen very often though.
