Title: Green Gearbox Doughnut
Post by mazzy_j on May 15th, 2006, 1:03pm
Its been a year since i removed the engine from my 'project' diesel and i've kinda forgotten whether i've lost something important.

The bit i'm talking about is when i took the engine out and off the gearbox shaft there was a spring and, i think, a green rubber doughnut looking think. Only its been so long since i did it all thats on the shaft now is the spring and the doughnut (if it exists) has gone walkabouts (possibly whilst trailering it) :-/  I'm 90% sure there was one on there but i'm sure someone here will know for definate.

btw its a 2.5td manual.

Thanks,

Matt

When I get chance I'll get mine on ramps and have a look (need to adjust handbrake cable anyway) - but the rubber ring is a vibration damper to couple the (fixed) output flange on the gearbox to the flange on the prop shaft - unless you mean something else?

If it has gone missing then I believe the ones used on the older Granadas and Sierras (post 1990 2.0) should be the same...

Hi Darren, the doughnut i mean is on the other side of the gearbox between where the engine connects to the splined input shaft of the gearbox. Judging by what you say i would have thought it was a damper of some description and it looks as though i have lost it  :(
