Title: Heat from where? Post by harry.m1byt on Oct 24th, 2006, 5:40pm Car is as per my sig below, which is fitted with CC. It was slightly chilly yesterday evening and the Scorp needed some fuel. It had been stood 48 hours in the garage - I started it up, reversed out and drove it a matter of 100yds or so and the interior seemded as if it had started to warm up. My 2L Granada was a very cool running engine and would need to be driven quite a long way before the stat opened, certainly it would take a few miles before the interior started to warm up. Now I know that some a/c's can both pump warmth in and out, so might the CC be using the a/c in reverse to add heat to the cabin or was this just my imagination? |

Are you sure on this? Because I tried it again this evening, paying a little more attention to it? I read something somewhere about it - it said something like 'if the CC is set on auto, and its cold, it will fire it up to demist the screen - even if the a/c button is off. Sure enough - engine cold, a/c turned off, the compressor ran + the heater fan and out came warm air. The only way I could stop the compressor was to turn the fan control to off -fully anti-clock. The only other source of heat I can think of would be an electrical heater, but this would need much more than the battery could possibly source. |

Title: Re: Heat from where? Post by Octavian_P on Oct 24th, 2006, 9:29pm If you set the air direction to windscreen it means auto-demist, the AC will kick in regardless if you turn it off, but it still porduces cold air, this helps to fast de-mist the interior of the car especialy the windscreen. PS: i'll try also to see how fast mine will give hot air ;) |
