if so what is the max psi. am i right that twins would be better as give less lag and work in lower revs? also how can i increase torc. is it possible to increase torc more than bhp.
thanks.

You need to have a chat with Dave Howard..

It's not an easy task by any stretch of the imagination, Mike @ Boost performance can help and supply some of the bits needed including low compression Pistons...

The 12V can have Twin's using a TurboTechnics kit.. The come up on ebay and make between 225 and 280BHP.

depends on the size of the turbos

small turbos will 'spool' (provide boost) up quicker and kick in at lower revs but dont add very much bhp, or do much at high rpm's

bigger turbos take longer to spool up but the bhp gains and the power surge is much greater.

if you want the best of both worlds then you need a variable turbine turbo. these adjust them selves to give as much boost as possible throughout the rev range. but there very very very expensive

Or Run Turbo + Super :D :D

personally id run a supercharger, mechanically driven, instant boost and they have a much more unique sound...

Me tooo...

Easier to engineeer to as you don't have to muck around with exhaust manifolds..

And from experience the 12V twin turbo system was a nightmare!!

thanks for all that. i think im going the super route. now for which one? its 0-60 that interests me. was thinking eaton. main ones seam to be m45 as fitted to coopers, would this be powerfull enough it does say for up to 3L engines. can this then be mounted in replace of the air con using pully and belt? gather the psi depends on pully size and volume of unit. or any other suggestions?

If you increase the power by much then you'll run into problems elsewhere unless you start thinking about stronger pistons, autobox etc. If the engine's done 100k then it'll need TLC even if it's in good nick, thrashing that much power out of it is asking for trouble.

Mate of mine fitted a turbo to his Nova, engine and electrics were toast after 2 weeks, admitted he caned the hell out of it and the Scorpio block is in a different class but you still need to think it through before you cause yourself endless grief. It'll need a complete stripdown and rebuild if you're going to do it properly, I've seen a couple of home brew turbo jobs go badly wrong.

If you want to feel 250+ horses then go buy a Jag or a Beemer, much less hassle; V8 XJR has 370 horses, can't explain how that feels until you try it ;)

M45 is too small for the 24V. M62 is better but realy an M90 is what your after..

Fitting down the side is very tight and possibly not possible at all..

If you talking 24V here

7 psi is about max for a STD spec engine which would be around 300 bhp.

Anymore than that then it gets very expensive.

If your just after good 0-60 times look at gearing fitting a 16V diff would drop you a second on the 0-60 but you would pay for it in MPG.
