Title: Revised rear axle fitted from 5/2/96 - All models Post by KeithCEng on Jan 18th, 2007, 6:26pm Evening All ! Because my 24V Cossie Ultima was 'born' on 22/11/95 (which makes it a true Scorpio, if you're into Astrology!), I wondered what was modified on the rear axle system as a result of the above revision ??? I bought new rear brake hoses recently and found they were significantly longer than those already fitted - "FordpartsUK" (who are generally very knowledgeable) insisted they were correct - I'm just wondering whether I'll have a problem "trying to keep the slack out of the way" if I install them ??? Info would be much appreciated! Cheers Keith |

Title: Re: Revised rear axle fitted from 5/2/96 - All mod Post by Highlander on Jan 18th, 2007, 7:00pm The rear of the diff was originally mounted to the car body via a single centre bush on the backplate Yours should be like this Keith The newer set up has a larger subframe fitted which the rear of the diff is mounted to via the diff backplate but through two bushes, one either side. the diffs are the same and the single or double mount backplates are interchangable. You can see the two types on fig 10 and fig 12 here http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/rearaxle/DiffRemoveInstl.pdf other than that i cant see any other differences |

Title: Re: Revised rear axle fitted from 5/2/96 - All mod Post by KeithCEng on Jan 18th, 2007, 7:52pm Hi Highlander, Many thanks for that info - It doesn't seem to be a major modification so i'm not quite sure why it should influence the length of the rear brake hoses ??? Cheers Keith |
