I used to own a 1991 2ltr Granada and I remember a feature on it whereby you could open the bonnet and press the button so many times which caused it to go into a dignostics mode this allowed you to check the different door sensors etc. I wondered if this feature is also included in the scorpio Pats system, I havn't seen anything mentioned but it would be a handy tool to have for the beast.... ???

There is Pete, it tests the various switches as far as I know.

I am looking for the relevant page at the mo, but basically pressing the bonnet switch enters a diagnostic mode as you say.

Then you can press the door switches around the car. If the system responds with a toot of the horn, the switch is working.

Think thats it, will come back if I find the page I am thinking of :)

Thanks for that, it's interesting, after giving it a little more thought I think you have to press the switch about 8 times before it goes into diagnostic mode... Hmmm I think I'll give it a try tonight, could be very useful

Having cleared that up....

My Granada also allowed the alarm system to be tested in that way, but I have not been able to get my Scorp to go into alarm diagnostic mode at all. Perhaps it needs something else - ignition turned on or something similar?
