I was reading the article on the main site regards changing the dash bulbs to LED's has anyone tried LED's for things like break lights, indicators etc.

wouldn't do the break lights or anything like that to tell you the truth,i know there was talks about it a few years ago and the general opinion was not to (was it Baz that tried it  :-/),anyway i think voltages and such like came into it (bulbs and fuses blowing etc.etc).....
i'm sure others will post, but IMHO i would advise against it..

the aftermarket bulbs you can get for the breaklight and indicators arnt worth the money

the brake light ones arnt as bright as bulbs so cant be seen to well in bright daylight (ive tried them) you would need to do a full mod to the tail lights to make them bright enough

the indicator ones have a lower resistance then the standard bulb which makes the flash opperate quicker (just light having a bulb blow) so need either power resistors or a mod to the timer unit

you can get inline resistors to cure the fast flash problem, bike shops sell them, the replacement brake light bulbs are ok, not really any better unless you have clear lenses.
someone did a good led mod on their front fog lights though.....

Sounds like more effort than it's worth. :-/

well they are safer, they actually illuminate faster than filament bulbs, we are talking thousandths of a second, but, a couple of years ago motorcycle news did an article on them, they worked out that the faster illumination on an led brake light equated to about 22 feet at 70 mph.
they should also last longer too.....

Hi Rich,
I did the mod on the fog lights its all here
http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=OT;action=display;num=1161723371;start=0#0

The main reasons for the mod was the silvering had gone on the reflectors and led's are much longer lived than normal filament bulbs.
Not only that but the stuff I used to resilver the reflectors would not stand up to the heat given off by halogen bulbs.
If you want any more info just pm me I am no expert but have been messing with led's for years.
