Lads,
Was taking the transmission oil cooler off tonight and the hose stubs sheared off. The cooler as a whole was pretty ropey actually, due for a replacement.

So first question, is the 24v transmission cooler the same as that on all other models?

Second, is there any other replacement strategy - i.e. an aftermarket alternative?

I'll get a quote off FPUK for a Ford replacement to see how daft a new one is price-wise. But does anyone have a good spare one out there?

Same for all models, I'm pretty sure they are £100 plus from Ford.
It passes through the radiator to cool it down more.

I've seen a few where the owner has done away with the cooler altogether (cheap fix?) and the pipes are just joined together. not seen a gearbox failure due to that and I know of one24v that still runs daily with that set up.

I don't think it's recommended to remove it if you're going to do a lot of towing with the car.

I'll definitely replace it anyway: if Ford put one on there, it was for a reason I guess! Interesting that they run okay without though - maybe in hotter climates they're essential?

What's the hottest place Ford sold the Scorpio then? Spain?
