Title: car ramps! Post by ajay on Jun 23rd, 2007, 5:13pm I bought some standard ramps today but they will not go under the front bumper due to the skirt. Any ideas on where to get some "low profile" car ramps?. ??? |

Title: Re: car ramps! Post by cossie_al on Jun 23rd, 2007, 5:47pm Hi Ajay, I use two large bits of wood to get the car onto the ramps. The bits I use are actualy pieces of roofing joist. About 10 inces wide by 3 inches deep by a foot long.(when laid flat) I drive the car onto these first then position the ramps upto the wood and drive up the ramps as normal. I also use two pieces of seat belt attached to the bottom cross piece of the ramp, I lay this on top of the wood so the tyres run onto this as you drive forward, it stops the ramp shooting out from under the car. Hope I explained that okay let me know if you would like me to post a picture |

Title: Re: car ramps! Post by dan_the_man on Jun 23rd, 2007, 7:38pm if you've got a tarmac drive I would recommend placing some old carpet down first so you don't ruin the drive ! you may still dent it, I did ! |

Title: Re: car ramps! Post by TiberiuS on Jun 23rd, 2007, 8:01pm Hi Dan, try getting 2 offcuts of thick MDF or marine ply and placing them under or even screwing them to the bottom of the stands. The area where I park my car is gravel over hardcore, I have a couple of offcuts of thick (1") MDF that I place under the jack and stands to stop them sinking into the ground. Regards, Bruce. |

Title: Re: car ramps! Post by Pam and John on Jun 24th, 2007, 10:35pm ;D too rich for me!!!! Must admit, never had the Scorpio on ramps, so there's some good ideas on here. Probe is a different story - it's been lowered, so procedure is use supplied jack (which just fits under at its lowest), lift it up high enough to get trolley jack under, then lift again again and slide normal ramps in ;) |

Title: Re: car ramps! Post by Spannerdemon on Jun 26th, 2007, 11:03am Lovely ramps I agree, and they would certainly make car maintenance easier. But it never fails to amaze me that these firms that sell things don't take a bit more care with their advertising, in order to promote sales. Some of todays spelling by companies who should know better leaves me in despair. Quote:
Know more lying flat..........!!! ::) ::) I don't think so. ;) |
