I have a cossie 24v saloon and by rights it should tow my 2 berth lunar clubman with very little effort. But stuck it on the back and it was not only struggling, but the ABS and traction control and over drive lights all started to flash in protest as well!!

I have a feeling that the suspension might have been lowered at some point as it scrapes every speed bump if there are 4 people in could this be the cause of it, or do i need to look elsewhere?

sounds like a gearbox problem as in your other post

Springs gone a bit soft ? :)

I've just bought some estate springs (30mm longer) to go in my saloon, as I have a similar problem ;)

I've just completed another 600 miles of towing in my 2.9 12v with a four berth 1100Kg through the Welsh mountains and the extra load was barely noticeable -certainly well clear of speed bumps and plenty of spare power. There should be clearance to be able to see the tread pattern of the rear tyres at the top, between tyre and mudguard or perhaps get two or three fingers of your hand one above the other, level in between.

I can get 2 fingers between tyre and arch on rear so there is problem number 1! The gearbox is also a bit iffy in the wet so that might be the root cause of lack of power, the car has only done 71,000 miles so i am guessing its not totally clapped out.

Had 4 people and the baby seat in it yesterday and it was so sluggish, even in sport mode and overdrive off. However it started to pull properly over 4000 revs though?
