Hi all,
My Cossie broke at the weekend coming back down country from visiting relatives(i live in Devon),i think it may be the torque converter and or gearbox gone. :(
MOT is also due this month and i know i need front discs and have been quoted £600 for a recon gearbox and new torque converter from powercraft(who are about 1 mile from me) fitted.
This was the third time i had been up country in it and every time some thing has gone.
Question is do i fix it again or break it for bits?
It is in a good condition otherwise,had a brand new radiator which is braced(made for powercraft)and thermostat just after Christmas,brand new custom made cat back stainless exhaust system which wasn't cheap back in March,cats were replaced at the same time,not brand new but had only done about 12000 miles.Three new tyres about five weeks ago,new wheel bearing etc...
I know i am going to have to spend around £1000 on it and i certainly won't get it back if i sell it so would it be better to break it? ???
Confused and fed up.

Definately fix it! Rowe is right, You wont get anything better for the money ;)

I think you will have to expect things to go wrong, however I think you come to a point where it is only wise to repair it and forget the outlay, I have replaced many things on my car and I consider I would be a fool to abandon it cos I would only have to start all over again, the more things you replace the newer the car gets with respect to parts. if I had £20.000 I think I would spend it on the car (rebuild), maybe I would think differently if I did have that sort of cash but who knows.
I certainly know I enjoy the car so here's to it....

Hope these babblings make sense and offer some help, but whichever way you go I wish you the best of it....

I agree with Martin. What are you going to get for £1000. At least you are eliminating the things that can (and do) go wrong. For a £1000 you will pick up a car that someone else has thought " do I fix it or scrap it".
Fix it, keep it and good luck.

if you do scrap or break her I could be interested in some bits, cats, manifold;s and if she's the estate st/st pipe !I say stick a second hand box in though !
