hi i am looking into the performance of the scorpio engines and found little info on the 2.3
i think it has 145bhp or 145ps (not sure on what the differance is?) but have found nothing on the torque ?
any one got the info i need ?

So the 2.3 16v and 2.9 12v both pump out about the same PS / BHP ?
How do the torque figures compare - didn't notice those in the engine info ?

To summarize

2.3 16V: hp 147 @ 5600 rpm and 202 Nm @ 4500 rpm

2.9 12V: hp 145 @ 5500 rpm and 168 NM @ 2500 rpm

So the 2.9 has more grunt on lower rpms (being a V engine), but the 2.3 is overall better, but to be responsive you also need to rev it more

I think that the max torque value for the 2.9 12v on the main site (168Nm@2500) is wrong, the old 2.9 12v BRD from the Granada Scorpio had 226Nm, and even the 2.0 8v has 167Nm... :-/

This is what i found about the Scorpio BRG engine: 2.9 12v: hp 145@4500 Nm 222@3000

So, in this case the 2.9 12v should be faster than the 2.3 DOHC.

The handbooks give it as:
2.3 16V: hp 147 @ 5600 rpm and 202 Nm @ 4500 rpm

2.9 12V: hp 150 @ 5500 rpm and 229 NM @ 3500 rpm
