Title: Replacing brake fluid Post by Pegasus on Mar 14th, 2008, 9:28pm Its time to replace the brake fluid. I've always had it done by local guys who are very reliable and reasonable. Saves time and hassle. But.... ... as I've always prefered to do things for myself - can anyone tell me how easy is it using something like Gunson's Eezibleed system? And, would you still have to use the "Renew Brake Fluid" described here (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/brakesmanual.htm) (wouldn't be a problem - just more involved)? Cheers Paul |

Title: Re: Replacing brake fluid Post by Snoopy on Mar 15th, 2008, 7:51am Using the easy bleed system there is NO need to fully remove all the fluid from the system first ,IMHO it just needs replacing using the easy bleed system thats what we do . If you remove the old fluid first then you can get air locks etc which can be a PITA to remove. I do mine using the easy bleed ... once a year . start at the back nearside and work your way round until nice clean fluid comes out. |

Title: Re: Replacing brake fluid Post by mr._floppy on Mar 15th, 2008, 11:06am Those one man kits are fine, easy to use and reliable. Always buy more brake fluid than you think you'll need, because invariably you will need more. Watch out for them bleed screws, use a long socket or a ring spanner coz they're easily rounded as garage mechanics always OVERTIGHTEN THE BLOODY THINGS !!!!!! Sorry, got carries away there.........Good Luck. |

Thanks Lads. Forgot to ask, how much fluid do they need - there's no mention in the handbook or the Ford guides? |

Title: Re: Replacing brake fluid Post by TiberiuS on Mar 15th, 2008, 11:59pm Last time I did mine I used just under 2 bottles. The Ezibleed is great, just let the spare tyre down to about 15psi and connect it all up, just be careful to keep the little jar topped up with fluid so you don't get airlocks and you'll be fine. always better to use a bit too much fluid than not enough to give the lines a good flush. When I did my Scorp the first time the fluid was so old it looked like lumpy solidified cooking oil :o Regards, Bruce. |
