Title: Re: wheel nut cover 3 prong key. Post by joe-satch on Mar 20th, 2008, 3:10pm hi scorpio-mike,well her scorpio ultima saloon has been scrapped due to a fool going into the rear side door last friday....so she wanted another...and we found one in colchester..not far from us....its a 2.3 p reg estate..in very good condition....just a few small things to set right..air bag light stays on.....and the abs light dont light up at all..and the a/c needs a regas..and thats about it,i drove it home from colchester..and its great...so thank you for your comments...if you have any ideas regarding the air bag light staying on and the abs light not coming on at all....i would be most grateful..could be just the bulb of course for the abs...im having a look at the clockspring unit soon...i supose we could swap over the parts from the scrap ultima,as the air bag light went out as it should...thanks very much..regards den. |

Title: Re: wheel nut cover 3 prong key. Post by gozz on Mar 20th, 2008, 4:47pm joe-satch. I reckon the ABS light may be an LED,for reasons unknown they are sometimes deliberately disabled in false hope of getting past the MOT tester with a duff system. GOZZ |

Title: Re: wheel nut cover 3 prong key. Post by joe-satch on Mar 20th, 2008, 5:25pm hi gozz, yes i understand what your saying....strange but i thought the abs light had to be on at the turn of the ignition key and then go off.....to show the system is working??....tester must have poor eye sight... ;D...thank for your thoughts mate.regards den...ps i will find out for sure over the next few days what the cause is. |

Title: Re: wheel nut cover 3 prong key. Post by joe-satch on Mar 21st, 2008, 8:51am yes Bizzay 1 is a very helpful chap, and he is very kindly forwarding a spare key to me so i can give it to my daughter...and my daughter is going to make a donation to this site...yes cheekyboy 2 your right...if it was my car thats most likely what i would do...ha..ha..but as its my 25 year old daughters car..and if she gets a flat tyre coming home from work at 10.30 pm...she may well find it near impossible to get the wheel nut cover off..then my phone would ring....and dad would have to go out to the rescue....ha..ha...so thanks to Bizzay 1..that wont happen...thank you to all members that helped in this matter....kind regards den and daughter. :) |

But surely this won't help you get the bolts out that are already fitted ? You can make a tool up to remove these bolts with an old socket, epoxy putty and some cut down masonary nails - I'm sure you'll work it out. Leave the epoxy long enough to set properly. |

Title: Re: wheel nut cover 3 prong key. Post by joe-satch on Mar 21st, 2008, 4:24pm hi and thank you to all who gave some ideas...the lock bolts on my daughtrs ultima are set in a triangle shape and seem to be evenly spaced apart, with the centre locating hole, thats a very good idea regarding the masonary nails and an old socket.thing is i dont know how long the lock bolts have been undisturbed..so they could well be very tight..i may have a go using a old screwdriver and hammer to free them off..thank you snoopy for the part number...yes i saw the one on ebay..4 bolts and 2 keys..went for £25.55.from fords in basildon...just our luck...thanks to all once again...regards den. :). |
