Title: Help !!!! A/C Compressor Keeps Cutting Out
Post by curly on May 3rd, 2008, 10:20pm
Hi All
Just bought a TD Ultima R reg and the a/c was not working. Took it to get re-charged and the guy there said it was "Overgassed" and the pressure was dropped in the system. Worked a treat for 2 weeks and today when we needed it the compressor was cutting in and out intermittently.....working for 2mins then going off....if i left it for a couple of mins and hit the a/c button again the comp would kick in again......Any of you kind Informative people have an idea?...thanks

Do you have climate control ?....& is it set on auto ?

If you do & it is set to auto, then this is normal, that's how it works......on-off  :)

It sounds just right 2 minutes on 2 minutes off. It means that the AC compressor cycles.

Hi thanks 4 the reply ...It has got climate but it is cutting out when manual fan speed is engaged.....it seems to work when it feels like and does not kick in straight away takes minutes where before it was almost instant.

hi there

it doesn't matter is the cc is in auto or manual, the compressor will still cycle on and off. it's all to do with temperature at the thermistor. normally this is about 4oC.

it could be the case that since you've had it gassed to the correct weight (1000g), it's now freezing up a bit. this will take time to thaw, hence the delay.
