Title: Re: Scorp gear knob ? Post by lesterlad on Dec 12th, 2008, 9:00pm When I had to replace the gaiter on my old mk3 MT 75 I just gave it a good pull upwards and off it came, replaced the gaiter (home made one) placed the knob back on top and gave it a good thump so it clicked back in place. The Scorpio one should be the same set up. Disclaimer. I will not be held responsible if the complete gearbox appears through the floorpan ;D |

Title: Re: Scorp gear knob ? Post by Simmo on Dec 12th, 2008, 9:48pm Mike. GENTLY prise up the wood effect surround at the base of the gaiter.Lift it and the gaiter which is attached to it,over the top of the gearstick so that the gaiter is, in effect, inside out. Look carefully at where it is gathered round the 'neck' and you will probably see a plastic cable tie threaded through the 'gather'. Snip it and the 'gather' will open and off it comes. Replacing is of course a simple reversal of the process. ;) |

Title: Re: Scorp gear knob ? Post by Snoopy on Dec 13th, 2008, 7:58am If you mean the actual gear knob on the top of the gear stick. It is held in place by a very small grub screw which requires a small Allen key to remove it . I found that with the auto version if you put the car in 1st then you could quite easily get to it . IF thats what you mean. he ld surround can then be pulled off and the new one slide back on . |

Title: Re: Scorp gear knob ? Post by pat on Dec 17th, 2008, 8:11pm If it's a manual, the knob does screw off - or mine does anyway. I had the same problem. Couldn't figure out how it came off. Found it was just b...... tight, that tight I was afraid of the lever joint shearing. |
