Title: What Is It? Post by Kenboy on Jun 2nd, 2009, 8:16pm Hi Guys, whilst tidying up the engine bay I noticed a cylinder? that has been holed about 3mm If you were to stand in front of the car with the bonnet open it is situated just to the left of the pollen filter box its roughly 40mm in dia and 60mm long with various pipe works and electrics going into it, now the climate control has never been working to its full potential despite replacing many parts I suspect this could be the problem but what is it and would an A/C specialist have to tackle the job I would appreciate your input on this one. I would send you a photo but alas I do not know how Regards Ken |

Title: Re: What Is It? Post by scorpio_man on Jun 2nd, 2009, 8:37pm hi there [] it'll be that (the re cir vac cylinder). easy enough to change over if you can find one that's not rusted in a scrapper. hth |

Title: Re: What Is It? Post by Kenboy on Jun 2nd, 2009, 8:45pm Thanks for the link Highlander but all I am getting is Web Page Not Found and thank you Scorpio Man for the information, can I ask is it feasable for this small hole to be repaired, or is the damage already done, also does the systen have to be de-gassed to carry out a replacement Regards Kenboy |

Title: Re: What Is It? Post by scorpio_man on Jun 2nd, 2009, 8:49pm hi there the link is fixed. ;) all info is there. iirc, you should be able to get it off without taking the windscreen wipers off, etc. easier to put a replacement back on, unless you can find sound metal to work from. hth |

Title: Re: What Is It? Post by Tompion on Jun 3rd, 2009, 1:10am Have you checked if it works? It doesn’t necessarily matter if it has a hole in it, there’s a rubber diaphragm inside, as long as that’s OK it may still work. Look at the position of the link rod (it works the recirculation flap), turn the engine on and with the blower running check again the rod should have moved. If you turn on/off the recirculated air you should see the rod move in & out. |

Title: Re: What Is It? Post by gozz on Jun 4th, 2009, 8:13am Kenboy. There are of course, four small holes around the periphery,on the shaft end, presumably to allow moisture to escape or to ensure free return of the diaphragm. GOZZ. |

Title: Re: What Is It? Post by Jonnycab on Aug 13th, 2009, 1:06am Re the last one, do you mean the small grey box with 2 small pipes coming out of it, just behind the air filter box ?....If so, then it's the EGR transducer (DPFE sensor).....http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/egrsensors.htm :) |
