Title: Re: DIY Air con regas kits ? Post by martin_rowe on Aug 26th, 2009, 11:53am dont know how good they are, but for little more you can get it done correctly. as for 'sufficient for 1 car, some cars take 500g, some 1200g of liquid gas, so how can this work, system wont be vaced down, no oil added. I have to put technicians through a 2 day course now to even look at an ac system. |

Title: Re: DIY Air con regas kits ? Post by scorpio_man on Aug 26th, 2009, 11:53am hi there i've got/used something similar. eBay (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CAR-AIR-CONDITIONING-RECHARGE-KIT-GAUGE-LEAK-STOPPER_W0QQitemZ400060497709QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_3?hash=item5d2576bf2d&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14) a few things to note... the correct way to re gas air con is to vacuum all the old gas/oil first. one can WON'T fill an empty system as it says in your ad. the scorpio takes 1kg to fill it. most cans are 3 or 400g, so you need 2 or 3 cans. the kit uses a pressure gauge. really you should be adding the gas by weight. most gas cans DON'T have any PAG oil in them, which you definitely need in the system. they're good just to top up the system once or twice, but then you should get it done properly to get any moisture out of the system. useful for finding leaks. kwik fit will do it for about £45, so cost of the kit has to be looked at. hth |

Title: Re: DIY Air con regas kits ? Post by mikeb on Aug 26th, 2009, 12:42pm Hi I used interdynamics ez air conditioning r134a refridgerant from ebay. My system was working but had not had any re-gas or maintenance for about 9 years so it wasn't as cold as it used to be. I used 1 container and also changed the filter and it certanly worked in my case. mikeb |
