Title: Warning Lights - ABS & Coolant Post by freerein on Sep 8th, 2009, 7:54pm Hi guys I have a 1996 2litre Estate. I looked at the fault finder and almost found some of my problems. The engine coolant light came on so I topped it up (even though the level looked fine) - this solved the problem for a week and now the light is back. Done the same and it continues to stay on though I can't see that there is any issue with the coolant. Now the ABS light has come on and is on all the time. Any ideas? Also, a problem I've had all along, when I drive off the gear change in the autobox from 1st to 2nd is very clunky. 2nd to 3rd is less so but still feels heavy. Any advice would be greatly appreciated Cheers |

Hi there, You could start off by cleaning the MAF http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cleanmaf.htm Also check the autobox fluid (the dipstick right beside the firewall) it should be pink, but could be a bit brownish too, but should not smell burnt. |

Have a look under your coolant header tank and see whether or not you have a depth switch. Some of mine have the light which comes on with the self check, but NO switch. At least you would know it's not caused by loss of coolant if there is no switch !! GOZZ. |
