Hi please can any one give some advice i have a mild vibrating /noise which starts around 20mph and gets louder as you increase speed,its a 2L 16 v automatic ultima N reg  many thanks . :-/

hi can not feel it but can hear it , mate told me maybe isomething with propshaft?? thankyou any ideas??

You can usually feel prop problems,could it be something in the exhaust system ? have you been underneath with a soft hammer to tap the prop and exhaust,the cats rattle and vibrate when they start to disintegrate,but of course on the 16v they are not behind the transmission.

Maybe a diff problem if it's just noise without vibration...possibly worn or just needs topping up.

Also worn tyres & some budget tyres can make a deep rumbling noise that can be mistaken for diff drone. Once had a pair of 'Wanli' tyres on the back & I was convinced there was something wrong with the diff....until I changed the tyres (to a better make) & the noise disappeared  :)

Get underneath and give everything a good wiggle (technical term)

rubber donut between the autobox and the prop shaft.
prop shaft centre bearing
Universal Joints
Diff
CV joints
Wheel bearings

Make sure you re-check the nut in a couple of hundred miles. They have been known to loosen off despite being correctly torqued up to 200ft/lbs.  :)

Sorry. My comments of course refer to a rear wheel bearing and having read the post again I see it was a front bearing. Thanks Gozz and Tompion (PM).  ;)
