Title: Re: vibration / noise behind autobox in car Post by gozz on Oct 22nd, 2010, 10:07pm You can usually feel prop problems, could it be something in the exhaust system ? have you been underneath with a soft hammer to tap the prop and exhaust, the cats rattle and vibrate when they start to disintegrate, but of course on the 16v they are not behind the transmission. |

Title: Re: vibration / noise behind autobox in car Post by Jonnycab on Oct 23rd, 2010, 2:39am Maybe a diff problem if it's just noise without vibration...possibly worn or just needs topping up. Also worn tyres & some budget tyres can make a deep rumbling noise that can be mistaken for diff drone. Once had a pair of 'Wanli' tyres on the back & I was convinced there was something wrong with the diff....until I changed the tyres (to a better make) & the noise disappeared :) |

Sorry. My comments of course refer to a rear wheel bearing and having read the post again I see it was a front bearing. Thanks Gozz and Tompion (PM). ;) |
