Could someone please point-out where the Paint-Code is located on the VIN - Plate below. Me and JC are trying to compare if there the same. I think my car is a State-Blue, however on the original receipt for the car it clearly says Slate-Blue!?

Also, will an Alternator off an early pre-facelift 2.0ltr 16V, do for my 1997 pre-facelift 2.3ltr 16V?

Dave, I had a look on This site (http://www.paints4u.com/AutoColours.aspx?ProductID=8775) and D seems to be Panther Black which I guess is correct for your car?.

Just had a look on my doner vin plate and it doesn't tally up with the descriptions of the one on the site.

From the top
1) 6
2) N 3
3) N
4) 2
5) SB
6) F 3
7) blank

Now I'm ???

Rodders Try This site (https://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegSelector.do;jsessionid=D063483252054226AAA96647E2E97583.walv1363) and see if that gives you a colour. I'm guessing its Java Blue with Raven Interior??. :)

I don't know, but this site seems to suggest they are the same alternator:
