Title: Speedo Accuracy
Post by Scorp_Kev on Jan 29th, 2012, 11:56am
Morning all.
Not a major problem really but just thought I would ask if anyone has had a similar problem.
While on a recent motorway trip I was using Satnav. At high speeds I noticed when my speedo was reading 80ish the Satnav was only reading 70. Only seems to be noticeable above 40 or so.

Any ideas ???

On standard fitment tyres they're usually about 10% optimistic. Mine shows 33 at 30, 77 at 70 etc.

With the 225 16 tyres on the 12 spokes, mine is reading 33mph for a true 30mph, and funnily when the car is doing dead on the 100mph the sat-nav says 94mph and from that point on it seems to be 6mph out, car reading just over 125mph for a true 120mph.

Thanks guys.
I will put up with it now. I suppose the sat nav reading is the most accurate though.

Ditto here, I'd say up to 10% optimistic as well. Handy for when speed cameras are about though must be said ;D

As regards "put up with it", they're all like that as far as I can deduce LOL
