Title: Posting pics... Post by Vulcan on Mar 2nd, 2005, 6:19pm For anyone who wants to post pics that are visible inside a thread you first need somewhere to "host" your pics on the web. A good place is.... http://www.photobucket.com/ You create an account and then upload pics from your PC to the account. Once you have your pic on your account you will see under it two boxes, one says url the other img. If you want people to just see the pic inside the thread copy the whole of the text in the img box and paste it into your posting, press preview to make sure it's working and there you are. If you would like to post a link to the pic on your photbucket album then use the url box text and paste that into your thread, when the url has appeared in your draft post highlight the whole of the url and then press the button above the smiley bar, second from the left.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v389/VulcanScorpio/url.gif This will enclose the url in [ url ]....[ /url ] tags. When the post is viewed clicking the link will take the viewer offsite to your pic. The two effects are shown below img: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v389/VulcanScorpio/DCP04059.jpg url: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v389/VulcanScorpio/DCP04059.jpg I hope that this helps somewhat in getting peoples pics of their pride and joy in the public eye. Oh and if the pic goes absolutely huge when you post it then go back to Photobucket and click edit above the pic then click "resize" and reduce it by 50% That should bring it into shape. George |

Title: Re: Posting pics... Post by Vulcan on Mar 2nd, 2005, 8:13pm ??? Fits fine 576 x 432 at 70k. fairly small pic really... ??? EDIT: the original was 1280 x 1024 on my pc but I reduced it and uploaded it, can you tell me what you see, what screen def do you use? If it's still too big on some peoples PC's I will have to find out why. Have you tried a ctrl F5 to hard refresh your browser? |

Title: Re: Posting pics... Post by Paul B on Mar 2nd, 2005, 8:31pm Screen def.? I don't know do I !! :D I'm using a Sony Vaio laptop though. The pic goes off the right off the screen so I have to scroll across to see it all (even with the window maximised) Just did the CTRL/F5 thing and its done the trick! As you say, its quite small really isn't it. :-[ Thank you :) |

Title: Re: Posting pics... Post by Paul B on Mar 3rd, 2005, 2:47pm John.... I'm on AOL but I've never used their picture thing. Had a little go with it earlier though, just to try it. I think its good for sharing pictures (via e-mail, etc) but for posting them up on here, you'd do better to set up an account (free) with someone like "PhotoBucket" (thats the one I use). Let me know if you want me to experiment for you. |

Craig, when you are in photobucket select the "edit" function above the pic you are posting http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v389/VulcanScorpio/edit1.jpg ...and come down to the middle portion which is resize picture, make sure 50% is selected. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v389/VulcanScorpio/edit2.jpg Click update and the pic will be a more reasonable size for the forums. Title: Re: Posting pics... Post by Paul B on Mar 3rd, 2005, 7:21pm Or.... if you're taking a picture that you know is going to appear on screen only (in an e-mail or on here) you could alter the resolution on the camera before you take it. They tend to come out small enough in the first place that way. Mine's only set at 640x480 for doing the stuff I have been doing on here. |

Title: Re: Posting pics... Post by Badboytunes on Mar 3rd, 2005, 7:56pm I use imagecave and i can resize images before i save them onthere. Its quite good........ bit like all the others really |
