Title: my new mk2! Post by nuttyscorp on Jan 2nd, 2006, 9:22pm hi all, well, ive been looking for a second car, to be used daily, while the mk2 turbo is being rebuilt, it was always going to be either a second scorp, or another mk2. i kept my eye on a few from ebay, spent a while on deciding which one to go for, and got very close to buying a mk2 in cambs (thanks for your offer on helping to collect and deliver that one stealth_hearse, countachv8 and liverpaul), but eventually found a stunning bargain, located in essex, about an hours drive from where i live. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4599486769&indexURL =0&photoDisplayType=2#ebayphotohosting 82k from new, 2 owners (weird, as it was husband and wife, same address even, so its as good as 1 owner from new), the car drives like it is 4yrs old, not the 21yrs that it is, never been smoked in, and with the exception of 1 wheel arch, its near mint, inside and out, only real shame is its not the x-pack, nor injection, and for £675, i am over the moon with it, it is so solid and near to rot free! what do you think? funny that, it happens ive got spare..... front and rear skirts, elec sunroof motor and switches, computer, spots, injection system, in fact the lot.....will i fit them? not sure, personally i think it would look great, all fitted, but then i am changing the originallity of a 2 (1 really) owners from new 82k near mint car.... should i do it?...bearing in mind the mk2 turbo im rebuilding is far from standard. Title: Re: my new mk2! Post by howiedintheplace on Jan 2nd, 2006, 10:23pm NO keep it as it is, get the arch done & make a profit in a few years time ;D |

Title: Re: my new mk2! Post by Paul B on Jan 2nd, 2006, 10:25pm Good question that. Personally, I would keep this one standard (as it is). Like you say, you've got the turbo to play about with. |

Title: Re: my new mk2! Post by mr._floppy on Jan 2nd, 2006, 10:42pm Lovely car , I always loved that classy big Ford Consul/Granada shape, much better than the awful Sierra. How's the gearbox ? my old MK 2 Granada's box went clunk at 90K. |

the whole car drives like it 4 yrs old, engine and box are fantastic, in fact, the only driving imperfection is squeeling brakes, and it doesnt pull under braking like the seller said it does, i think he was being over critical and brutally honest! Russ |

Title: Re: my new mk2! Post by Baz on Jan 2nd, 2006, 11:51pm My dear old dad was a Chauffeur and he always drove Granadas. We had 3 MK II's, SLV618T, FMA4X and B444AMA the last two being Black Ghia models. I loved them to bits as a kid. Often wondered what happened to them after they were sold on Baz |

Title: Re: my new mk2! Post by Snoopy on Jan 3rd, 2006, 7:38am If the brakes do pull when hot and on an irregular basis then change the front discs. Ford had a problem with the discs on the MK2 with a batch of faulty discs. Too much alloy in them or something like that. Ortherwise a great car went for years and years. the The only problem I know about is the plastic timing gears or is that on another model...? Time is playing tricks with my memory! |

Title: Re: my new mk2! Post by Simmo on Jan 3rd, 2006, 10:52pm Russ, I suppose you'll be 'customising' the interior with all that walnut which was being displayed by the Mk 2 owner at the last Kent meet. Do you know who that was?. The kit was certainly impressive. |

Title: Re: my new mk2! Post by nuttyscorp on Jan 4th, 2006, 1:51pm simmo, ive decided im going to keep this one as the standard ghia, as it is as good inside as out....no cracks in dashboard either, the fascia kits you speak about, are availible for a mk2, roughly £99, and will probably put one onto the turbo rebuild.
