Title: hammond moved to general ward...
Post by taliban on Sep 24th, 2006, 11:50am
which is good news, hope he makes a full n speedy recovery.

on a downside the future of top gear is in doubt, although i didnt watch it much due to a lack of 2 wheels on the show which i think is due to clarkson and the car heads being embarrased by their performance, it will be a shame. yes a much liked presenter has been seriously injured filming for the show, but, the show is about fast cars etc, motor sport is dangerous, all the presenters etc know this. it would be a bit like banning boxing because people get punched, which can cause injury....

I dont think it will have much of an effect, unless the hamster does not want to carry on. Top Gear is such a huge program and the BBC make a lot of cash from syndication (UK G1 + G2 etc) I think there will be a few stern words at the production office but I have not heard anything yet that would suggest a public outrage to the safety aspect of the show. You just have to look at other programs like Vroom Vroom (yurgh!!) to see that. If anything, the ratings will go through the roof for the first few weeks of the series. If they are smart, they will hold back on the footage until the last few weeks to hook people even longer. ::)
