Title: What the world has come to...
Post by Baz on Oct 30th, 2006, 6:25pm
This was sent today via the mailing list and just about sums up the state the country is in....#

Hello Folks,

I have been a member of the Scorpio mailing list for about two years and although I was unable to offer any assistance to other members,  the times that I required help a speedy and excellent response was always guaranteed.
Along with the Scorpio Websites exceptional mine of quality information and knowlege you just could not ask for more.
Well on saturday at 1.15pm  a fifteen year old lunatic smashed a stolen peugeot 205 into my neighbours car which was then shunted  into my 2.5TD Scorpio Ultima writing off all three cars. This lad was of such fine upstanding character that he amazingly ran off unscathed leaving his injured girlfriend behind in the wreckage. To sum up, my Scorpio Ultima TD  was the best equipped and most reliable car that I have ever owned  and it had at least another five years of life....what a waste.!!

Thanks to all who run the the site and many thanks to those fellow members who have offered help over the years.

Bye all

Neil Coverdale

How about neutering him then wiping him off the planet,no shame to anyone.

I've got quite a short temper and really worry what will happen if i ever catch someone like this little w@nker after doing something to my property/family. Funny that i'd probably end up in court and he'd get my Cossie as compensation.

How much more will this country take before things have to change ???

He'll get community service and loads of tax payers money towards helping him get over all his problems.

MAKE them pay for ALL of the damage, ALL of the costs incurred, police, insurance companies, court costs the LOT! and if they arent working then make them work for it.

Then put them in a room with Cossieguy  ;D

Think I've mentioned this before,
A number of us have towbars fitted so its a case of dragging the scumbag with a rope to his nuts. just far enough to remove big chunks of skin then put him in a bath tub full of cooking salt and scrub with a yard brush.
or the other method,
Two foot of barbed wire inserted in a length of conduit, insert the cunduit and barbed wire into any orrifice you see fit then remove the conduit leaving the barbed wire behind.
Just had a thought do the wire trick first then the towbar and salt routine.

It's depressing what goes on...

We had a breaking at our school on saturday early morning, must be current or recently EX pupils... 8 laptops stolen and assorted damage ot doors fittings etc... But it's all the other costs that mount up...

I have better things to do, but Myself and my senior technician spent most of the day sortign CCTV and insurance info on the stolen equipment. The bursar spent half the day sorting inusrance, the site manahger spent half the day sorting repair schedules, our contracter spent all day fixing doors. Staff spent the day not able to teach what they wanted...

And how much are the little g1ts going to get.. £50 per laptop max... and they cost the insurance company £900... Realy makes me dispare...

And whilst all this was going on, one of our main Computer Servers Keeled over and I spent a further hour on the phone to the Far east trying to tell the call center it was dead!!!

Taliban, It wasn't my car mate, it was a chap on the mailing list. I was just posting it here so people could see the hurt it causes when these prats drive stolen cars. Personally I would have dragged his girlfriend out of the car and made her tell me where he lives and then gone round and set fire to his dads car.... real justice. Revenge is true justice dispite what the liberals will tell you. Just read some of the replies above. Everybody wants revenge because that is the only thing that will work!

TT, I own a company and we have over 400 schools past and present as customers. One of the new areas we have gone into as an off shoot of the data cabling is network CCTV systems. We recently caught a lowlife stealing a projector from the school. He is in court on Wednesday and is likely to go down!!!! It makes me proud!! So much so we have just given the school a new projector and laptop as a thank you for being a reference site for us!

We have 74 cameras, but unfortunatly despite my mentioning it 3-4 times during planning/install... They never did a night survey and so night coverage is B.......x, apart from me being able to ID the MK5 VX Astra...

CCTV is catching lots of general problems though.

We have "SMART WATER"  to put on equipment, I actualy started on Friday afternoon doing this as I had a spare moment.... Did not find the laptops that were stolen, the thiefs had a goood rumage in cupboard  for them!!

We could start an online petition, then spread it round the other car forums to start with then un-leash it on the whole internet(Britain). Remember how quickly the insurance one from the Mazda site went round. W'ed have to tone down the
whole torture side of things but could certainly try and put the very valid point of proper punishment ie. As Highlander said make them pay for everything involved in bringing them to justice. Personnaly i believe we should go with the 3 strikes and you're out approach from the USA. 3 convictions for any offences and automatic life(Whole of life) in prison that'd sort them out. I'd happily pay a little more in taxes to lock these scum away forever.
So who has the knowledge to set up this petition in a legal (So we don't sound/look like crackpots) way.
Guy.

Every one in Salford, most in Warrington, Wigan. Cheshire, Manchester and Oldham and Rochdale to name a few areas but not that far away from home really. We leave that to Johnsons the Cleaners who are another customer but we work for them between Perth and Brighton and all stops in between! Just finished an 800 point job in Preston for them and bought a new Fluke cable tester for £5,500.00 on the back of it!

Never mind locking the pieces of cr*p up after 3 strikes, execute the little c*nts.  I'll be the executioner for free, I guarantee you if we did this in this country the crime rate would drop like a stone.

Prison is no deterrent to this scum, they regard it as an educational tour / holiday camp

I'd be happy with a licence to shoot 'em, that way I'd patrol the streets and any time they look like there gonna do something a bit dodgy BANG dead scum.
I recently caught one just about to do the window on my Pontiac, but as soon as he saw me he dropped the brick and was off, I didn't even get close to him.  If I'd had a gun handy I'd have shot the little runt.

Oh, and how was he in a position to get near my prized Pontiac, well because some other not a very nice person had parked across my driveway (proper dropped kerb), so I had to leave my car up the road while I got my Landrover from the garage to push said not a very nice person car up the road and out of the way............ absolutely no respect for anyone or their property these numb nuts!!!

Thank god I'm moving to a remote place in Scotland next spring.

But Dave it would be a deterrent as once they go in you'd NEVER release them, not so much of a holiday then. Hopefully some of them might then do us a favour and top themselves.

i think the simple thing is punishment has to fit the crime.
3 strikes and out sounds good, but is it? we are afterall thinking about violent crimes etc on society in this topic, but, would it be right for say.....a builder, cabbie or anyone who's self employed who have evaded tax payments a few times (and we might only be talking of a few grand) to be locked up for life? remember, laws, rules etc, if we change them for our own needs and whims they can sometimes be a double edged knife.
and lets not forget, there is actually no mention of the sentence this kid has received yet, if he's even been before the 'beak' yet.

[] these might be mindless thugs on the whole, BUT even they're not that stupid, look to New York apparentley it really sorted the majority of crime out in the city. Watched car wars on BBC1 last night where the cops said if you own an old Saab don't even think of going to Salford it wont be there when you return to it! That's the way it is he said. I'm afraid I'm at the point now where I WILL belt the little bas*ards, and bolloc*s to the consequences.
If I REALLY had my way, I'd exterminate a very large proportion of them. They are a total waste of air.

Mouthy little Gobs*ites, who have no respect for anyone. Can't stand them.

Most of the filthy little vermin haven't got two brain cells to rub together.

I'm sure VERY SOON, people in this country ARE going to start vigilante action against these yobs, and I don't blame them. Let's face it, the police don't have the manpower, the courts are a waste of space, and the tosser at No 10 couldn't give a sh*t, because there's no TAX in it for him!!

"Get tough on Crime"........Ha...My AR*E !!

I've mentioned this before, but if you can pick up a copy of a film called "The Star Chamber", then you'll love it.  Right up our street!!

And with that...........Off to work!!  ;)

i agree with all of you, i ask,,,,,, is there something wrong with me? i,m a retired electrical engineer and i could just about stop crime overnight in this country,,,how ?to stop any body commiting an offence you,ve got to have a deterrent, a proper deterrent not a fine ,not a slapped wrist a proper deterrent to stop them doing it again. most people in this country are fed up to the back teeth of petty crime and so called yob behaviour, the police ratings say the rate is going down but that is absolute bollocks, people are not reporting it because nothing gets done. its sad when the pensioners round my estate are scared to go for their pensions to the local p.o because of the gangs of youths that hang round the shops when the man knocks on your door in may and asks for your vote ask him what h,es gonna do about crime if he,s anything like mine he said i was getting another recycling bag!!!!!!! i said do summat about the crime and i,ll vote for you,,,it,s sad but i still havn,t voted i want to, but to me the so called politicians. are just parasites. when the government says the prisons are full, i personally couldn,t give a f!!!k if there is twenty or thirty to a cell ,that is the the whole point!! eventually the people have to have their say and if the people in office are not doing owt then turf them out and install someone who will ,and if that doesn,t work then its got to be a rebellion ,harsh words i know but if summats broke then fix it,the people have had enough (climbs down off soapbox)

Wiv all of you, but.......... I have done voluntary work in prisons...........

For the vast majority the prisons are simply not a deterrent.  And for those that the prisons are a deterrent, most of the guys shouldn't be in there in the first place, i.e one guy whose wife got raped, he found the B*stard cos the Police did nothing, and put him in hospital, got 12 months..... Oh what wonderful justice we have.  ???

A lot of the little sh*ts have nothing better to live for and actually love to be inside.  I dont think a life sentence would deter a lot of them.  Inside they need no money, have plenty of mates, pool, gym, drugs, TV, food and a roof over their heads.  All at our expense, sod it...... Injure / maim / kill them.

Make the punishment fit the crime, yes yes yes, I have no problem with that.

How many ex thieves are there in Saudi with both hands missing?  None.  And only very few one handed ones !!!

Violent bullys, beat the crap out of them (properly)!!
Rapists, chop their genitals off.
Thieves, Chop off their hands.
Vandals, Scar them, destroy their property, tar and feather 'em.
Arsonists, burn the b*stards
Tax Dodgers, clobber their wallets.
etc etc.

I guarantee the crime rate would be almost Zero within a couple of months of this.

I know a village in Scotland (a fairly large one), where if someone was caught theiving etc, the locals would deal with it.  There are quad bikes left parked up with the keys in them.  I left a 1200cc Waverunner (JetBike) on its trailer, unlocked, outside where we were staying for a week.  People dont lock their houses, dont lock their cars, THE CRIME RATE IS ZERO !

And there are loads more communities like this in the Highlands,  Roll on next spring when I move up there !

Seriously though what Spanners says is exactly how I am now.  If I catch anyone messing with my property I will seriously injure them and deal with the consequences afterwards.  i.e. "No officer it wasn't me it was some stranger who came to my rescue then ran off. Describe him?, no I can't remember what he looked like.  Now b****r off and prove otherwise" !!  ;D ;D ;D

i think people are missing the point(s) i was making with the tax dodge example, maybe it was a poor example but it doesnt matter as that was not the point i was making.
my point is punishment has to be seen to fit the crime, would a lifetime in jail be correct punishment for 3 petty crimes that dont harm anyone?
be careful what you wish for, it might come true; knee jerk reactions to something generally arent a good idea, it just might turn round and 'bite' you back.
most of us seem to complain about the 'nanny state' and big brother is watching you, yet in this topic we're asking for more. its not a straight forward topic and has plenty of pros and cons.
as i say punishment has to fit the crime, and unfortunately it often doesnt i.e. last summer a 90 year old woman pulled out on a motorbike without looking, the biker wasnt speeding, he was doing nothing wrong but lost his life and left 4 kids and a wife. in court the woman got away with a fine for driving without due care and a ban. her brief then argued the point that she needed her car and the ban was lifted.
a pensioner refuses to pay an increase in council tax on principal and goes to jail.
one was pre meditated, the other not, i would suspect that played a big part, but to me the punishments are back to front.

all crime deterrents work to a lesser or greater degree but i really dont have an answer, prison teaches a lot how not to get caught the next time, but deters others, the softly work with them approach helps and stops some, but others take the p*ss, fines are pointless if people can easily afford them.

then theres the question has crime really increased over the decades? we all assume it has, but has it? if you calculate crime on a per head of populus i.e. for every 100 people in the country 1 crime is commited, then you have to take into account the increase in population.
then theres the reporting; decades ago less crime was reportable, i.e. years ago a kid caught doing something often got a clip round the ear, now that isnt the case and it is reported and becomes a crime statistic.
communication; years ago you had the radio, newspapers and some had tv's. now theres pc's, mobiles, news 24/7 etc etc, could it not just be a case that we now hear about things more, in fact constantly?
the media, especially newspapers are experts at putting ideas into peoples heads, take them with a pinch of salt. years ago when i was a kid i was a punk rocker with bleached spikey hair, i didnt break the law, get into trouble etc, but i remember a daily mail article that labelled me a misfit granny raping torturer of fluffy kittens. they even had a whole page TELLING parents what they have to do. they're still preaching the same propaganda bo**ox, except this time its not spikey hair and joe strummer, its hoodies and the latest rap star.

Hi Taliban,

I for one wasn't suggesting life in prison for a dog fouling the footpath, or having a wee up a tree in a remote place.  ;D

The type of crimes we are talking about here is the mindless disrespect for people and their property.
This is definitely on the increase, certainly in Kent anyway.  Police conviction statistics are cobblers.  Ok last month they got say 3000 convictions, but what they didnt tell the media machine is 2997 of them were parking tickets, no road tax computerised penalties,(on cars that are genuinely parked up on private ground), and speeding tickets from cameras. OH  :o no not the old cameras again Highlander !!  }{ }{ }{

A lot of what you say makes sense.  I disagree that there are more crimes reported.  In actual fact I'd say there are less, because the very people whom these type of crimes affect, know how bloody useless the Police are so things like radio thefts, broken windows, vandalism, petrol thefts, yobs crashing unlicensed mini motos along the side of cars etc go un reported.  The stupidity is that yes, two people having a row next door will get reported, yet years ago it wouldnt have been.

I too was around in the Punk era, in fact I was a Rocker, and yes I got grief from the so called establishment, as a long haired biker type, but I like you didn't go round breaking into cars, driving illegaly, robbing houses, raping and mugging etc. However a few of my mates did (probably 10%). Fact is these days its not all of the so called "hoody brigade" its just a lot of them choose to wear the d**ned things with the hood up as a disguise.  I can show you camera footage outside my business, everytime something got damaged / nicked, a hoody was used as disguise, rendering the cameras useless.  Our teenagers dont commit crime but these days probably 30% of their mates do, so perhaps this is due to the population increase ?  I doubt it.

IMHO it is a result of a gradual decline in morals and respect, a lack of proper policing and real deterrent. In fact there are a lot more factors to take into account as well but that turns into a nightmare.  ;)

I take on board the story you say of the old lady who killed the biker, but the fact is I doubt her myopic driving style came on over night... More likely her driving has got worse over the years, gradual decline of proper policing means this has gone unchecked.  Ahh never mind get a few more speed cameras to improve road safety  }{ }{ }{ ....wot a load of b*ll*cks.

The problems we now face are a result of the government being allowed to take more and more and do less and less......... Until they are kicked into touch things will only get worse.  What we really need is a small Island where we can chuck all the world wide scum and forget them..........Oh I forgot we have one its called Great Britain  }{ }{ }{

As for me, I'm retired at age 44 and I'm off from the Ratrace before next spring to a nice remote little Lochside haven.  And if the scuffs get that far North in my life time and come on my land I'll shoot the b*ggers.
Everyone I know who is in a position to is getting out of this messed up country and going somewhere LOL.  ;D

Anyway, wots wrong with raping fluffy kittens and torturing grannies ?  }{ }{ }{

have a nice day all,

Regards

Hi, Hepburn and Big Neil,

Yeah agree with you totally. Love the sound of the Yacht, may buy a small one when I eventually hang up my waterski equipment !!  We would have loved to go to Australia or somewhere but simply couldn't afford that.

I have been waterskiing for years and have a Static Van on a lake in Kent, miles from anywhere, Mel and I dissapear there and find our peace every weekend, from Friday afternoon to Monday night.
We aren't rich by any means.  Auto gearboxes have been good to me over the years, enabling me to pay up our mortgage at the beginning of the year.  A stroke of luck due to the Rail Link near us and our house has gone up 60% in value in the last 12 months.

We looked at this and together with the modest income we get from some investments now means we can sell up and afford a remote plot of land in North West Scotland.  On this we plan to put 5 static vans Lochside, and a 4 bedroom log cabin at the other end of the Loch for us to live in.  Nice thing about building the Log Cabin kit and siting static vans is that I can do most if not all of the work myself.

We will rent the caravans out March to October for more income and I can ski on the lake whenever I please.  Like I say we aren't rich at all but have just planned a strategy to get away from England and all it's problems.

I wish anyone planning a similair escape the very best of luck wherever it may be that they plan to go.  ;D

Regards

For the caravan hirers I also plan to do things like Waterski lessons and Windsurf / Sailboat / Fishing boat hire etc as I have the relevant Instructors tickets, and rights to the Loch.

Because our land is within a bigger (huge) estate, we also get access to the land on the rest of the estate, where there is already Stalking, Hunting, Clay Shoot etc.  With some more liason with the estate owners I may well be able to do Quad Bike treks as well, as I can certainly use my own Quads on their land at the moment.

We are moving up in early Spring time and plan to be renting Caravans by the following tourist season.

It certainly is a beautiful and remote part of the country where Stag and Beasties wander freely and Eagles perch on fenceposts.  The weather isn't as bad as some think either as it is in the Gulf Stream.  Indeed, a few miles down the road there is a beach with Palm trees growing!  ;D

And dont forget the Single Malts  }{ }{ }{ }{ }{

Which estate are you on Neil?

I am in Old haraby, it's ( for anyone not from carlisle ) is orignialy council housing but with a good number of Right to buys... Peeps think that behaviour on the estate is poor compared to private housing areas, however I visit rellos and freind s all over the city and have seen worse behaviour in "POSH" areas.. one advantage of the council estates is that longstanding families know most folke...

We have had trouble though..

Working in a school, you soon realise how llittle respect youngsters have these days. I am only 31 ( or is that 32 ???? ) and can't belive kids were this bad when I was at school 15 years ago..

its time that political correctness was thrown out of the country! treat all people the same no matter their creed or colour! there is too much prejudice in this country! do not make allowances for peoples differences ie colour or religion, to hold back just because it may offend any minority is ridiculous. treat everyone the same. if you have committed a crime expect a punishment, one that will fit the crime and if it involves a prison sentance then make it  hard labour!! bring back national service- teach youngsters respect for their peers and society- if it dosent work then stick them in stocks to humiliate them. treat pensioners with the respect most of them are due and give them a decent pension. allow law-abidding people the right to live a decent live, stop finding stupid reasons for additional taxation. i could go on and proberbly will at some later stage but it is time to take stock and bring in some 'tough love' else this country will descend into civil war and anarchy- thats my lot!! best get on with the ironing!!

Neil , my heart goes out to you , but all is not lost .My wife and I were driving along minding our own business when a YOUNG TURD drove straight into us, as usual NO TAX , INSURANCE , MOT and BANNED. The PO- LICE never even arrested him ( I caught him and re-arranged some of his bodily parts FACE NUTS LEGS just to stop him running away. The PO-LICE wanted to arrest ME ! for detaining him till they arrived , but they didn't. But I went to see a solicitor and he made a claim with the M.I.B. ( Motorists Insurance Bureau ) and I got paid out for the car , my wife also got compensation for brusing . We ended up with £4.600 , the car only cost me £200.00 It took just over a year , the lad , so we were told got a further ban of 3 months added on and the M.I.B were going after him to recover their costs,no matter how long it takes. Seek legal advice , it cost us nothing.....Kimi....

Julie, you can't treat everyone equal; look what has happened in France where people are just citizens. Not Muslims or Jews or Christians, white black.... just citizens. Still didn't stop them rioting and making race issues out of it all. Jean Marie le Penn makes a living out of being a racist and a far rightm, send them all back type because deep down I think eveyone is intollerant of anyone who is different; especially muslims and even some catholics. Religion is a wonderful thing isn't it!!

i,m a great believer that respect begins at home as early an age as is understandable.remember the old advert on telly?do you know what your kids are doing tonight?,unfortunately not all homes are pleasant for young uns to grow up in, i just know how my home was when i was young and i respected my mam &dad ,it does help with your views in life i think
