just had to post this from yesterday,s telegraph.
Ed Whitacre, chief exec. of a us telecom co. retires in june with a (wait for it ) $158m dollar pay off(£79m) and also gets $24,000 annual car allowance,$6,500 home security, and access to the company,s jet for 10 hours per month. he and his family also get free health ins. for life and he will get paid $1m a year for 3 yrs work as a paid consultant to the comp. he,s leaving, as well as $25,000 to cover his golf club fees.
makes my £25 a month increase in my united utilities pension well worth it don,t you think!!

Poor man. I really wonder just how he's going to get by!! ;)

All joking aside, this is exactly why people get so hacked off when THEY are offered a pay rise of 2%, while FAT CATS like this guy are creaming off the profits on a daily basis. YUK!

If I was driving a cab 'till is was 90 (a distinct possibilty ;))...then I still wouldn't earn in a lifetime what this guy must have earned a month ???

Slightly obscene I think, but that's how capitalism works ::)

The only good thing about this is the fact that the guy & his family must have to live a secluded life, with security cameras guarding everything they own & personnal security to watch their every move, incase a member of the family gets kidnapped for ransom etc.

Looking at it that way then I think I may be luckier in life than he is....because I don't have to look over my shoulder all the time & can just go down the pub for a drink & not be noticed ;).....& who is gonna want to kidnap my wife & kid ? ;)

For all we know, the company under this this guy's management, has made $20 Squillions profit.

I know these figures are obscene to us mere peasants but he may actually have earned the payoff.

What's particularly galling is if the guy's been absolutely useless at his job yet still recieves a stupendous Golden Handshake Deal ( like certain Railtrack, BBC and NHS bigwigs who shall remain nameless ).

some of you have hit the nail on the head,,,,,,he probably can,t sleep at night and doesn,t own a scorpio,,,,,,,mind you he might just have an obscene amount of shares in the company that made them.
