Title: Re: This is the car I have been asking questions o Post by Dave on Jul 18th, 2007, 3:12pm Have a look on eBay at completed items, see what the current trend it. If it has good service history then it seems ok to me but of course you could always make an offer ??? EDIT: Had a quick look on the Autotrader website and the price seems roughly top side of average. You could get one with lower miles if you wanted but, as far as I am concerned, mileage means very little - its how well looked after + serviced its been. Check the autobox for good operation and make sure the colour is red-ish in colour. |

Title: Re: This is the car I have been asking questions o Post by TiberiuS on Jul 18th, 2007, 5:24pm Just to be sure, are you buying it or selling it? Nice car but to be honest £950 is on the high side, I'd probably have a go at haggling down to £600. To give you an idea, I sold my 2.3 Ultima in January for £900, 105k and in similar condition to that one...the price I got was on the high side for a 2.3 then, cosworths seem to fetch a couple of hundred more. I'm with Dave, mileage doesn't mean a great deal nowadays, if it's been looked after with regular fluid changes it should be sweet. But, the 2.3 is a nice car, nice amounts of mid power...seems a bit more than 150bhp and really smooth revving. No sportscar but could give your average rep mobile a run for its money...I managed to outrun a 325i once, I was chuffed ::) |

Title: Re: This is the car I have been asking questions o Post by PeteB on Jul 18th, 2007, 6:07pm Aye id say 995 is asking a bit much my 2.5 td ultima has about the same mileage and set me back 700 :) (although my mot was short and then cost 300 to get it through :( ) |

Title: Re: This is the car I have been asking questions o Post by wayne on Jul 18th, 2007, 7:33pm Six & seven hundred quid :'( I know it's the going rate, but when you think boxy little Fiestas and other small cars are going for that, and when you think of the spec the Scorpio has... It's sacrilige :( |

Title: Re: This is the car I have been asking questions o Post by Scorpio_Mike on Jul 18th, 2007, 8:09pm We are essentially dealing with 'pocket-money' cars here - but potentially they could be expensive to fix. Far better to pay a couple of hundred quid extra for a real nice one than another with a few niggling faults or bits of rust which would cost more to fix. Condition more important than mileage in my opinion. I'd rather pay £950 for a rust free car in good condition than £700 for another example with rust and other faults. £250 doesn't get a lot fixed on a car these days... |

Title: Re: This is the car I have been asking questions o Post by mr._floppy on Jul 19th, 2007, 12:30am <<< Condition more important than mileage in my opinion >>> Dunno, at 164K miles you're hoping all the major mechanical problem items have been fixed or replaced. You can tart up a rusty wheel arch and a scuffed bumper and still get to work, but a broken autobox or a blown engine is always gonna leave you on the hard shoulder. ??? |

Title: Re: This is the car I have been asking questions o Post by Kjetil S on Jul 23rd, 2007, 4:04am It looks green to me, but as my Tourmallard Green looks blue in the rain and black in overcast, I wouldn't take much notice to what colour a Scorpio *looks* ;) |
