Title: Auction Dodgers...
Post by pinto on Nov 16th, 2008, 6:37pm
Dont you just hate it when something you're watching or bidding on ebay gets suddenly "ended" for no better reason that the seller doesnt like the price its going for ? Shame ebay cant sort their act out and stop people doing it !

People like that should either set a sensible reserve, start at the price they want or just not bother selling in the first place !!

Mr angry (lol)

Sometimes  they  are  selling  it  elsewhere  and  have  had  a  quick  cash sale.

It seems fair to me to have the option of withdrawing  the item from E-Bay.

Theres always the right to withdraw, as there should be - but im referring to the types who leave stuff up for 6 n 3/4 days of a 7 day auction  - then back out just because they want more :(

If they want a quick cash sale, dont use an auction site.... :-/

I'd not personally ever sell anything on ebay i wasnt prepared to take the risk of not getting what i want for it - and even then, i'd start my auction at the price I wanted or put a reserve in.

That is all well and good, but EBay have a minimum reserve of £50.00 for any item. Some people are put off if you start an item too high and obviously the seller doesn't want to give it away. If someone emails you and offers what you were looking for when you still have a while to go and a few hundred quid more than your current bid, then anyone would sell it. Part of the problem is that most buyers only buy in the last few minutes so it is only to be expected that sellers get nervous if their £300.00 item only has a 20 quid bid on it with 12 hours to go....

I'm selling a set of genuine roof bars from a saloon at the moment. Brand new and still in their unopened box. This is the 3rd time they have been on and now on a lower price; guess you get what you can for stuff these days!! ::)

Never put my bid in until the last few seconds either  ;D, cos I know of moody dealers who use different computers / ID's or get mates to bid and bump up the price >:(  If the mate / moody ID accidentally wins it these types just re - list it "due to timewaster" or contact the last genuine bidder  >:(

Just lately I've started only buying stuff off there wiv a buy it now, you all know where you stand then ;)

It's the  type of thing Johnny Foreigner does.

It's sneaky,  underhand,  devious  and unBritish.
