Hi all. I have been toying with the idea of getting a cheap mk1 Galaxy for the mundane monday to friday stuff, in the hope of saving a couple of quid on my fuel bill's. Trouble is i cant find a definative answer on how good the 2.0ltr is on fuel around town. Some say as much as 25 mpg, others say around 15 :o :o, which would kind of defeat the point of buying one in the first place. I have thought about getting a diesel, but only have about £1000 to play with, so it's unlikley i'll find one for that. Anyone have any ideas ? ? . Dont want to end up with two petrol guzzlers ::). a frends wife hade a 2.9 12v scorpio est.then changed to a man 2.0 8v galaxy and haved her fuel costs.but stay away from the 2.0 auto.

I always thought the Galaxy was pretty sore on fuel.

They must be a similar weight to the Scorpio and use the same 16v engines so i wouldnt think there's any significant difference in mpg

hi there

i had the use of a '00 2.3 galaxy for a couple of months and the fuel consumption was scary (16-20mpg)!!!

that was around town. on the motorway, it wasn't too bad, getting up to 30mpg.
