Title: The future Post by adam on May 29th, 2011, 1:27am I have always tried to have a good blend of traditional and new technology to enhance my scorpio's. I recently went to a new car show and found that i still love my cossie's and i dont want a new shiny tin box. However with technology standing still for no man. I found myself envious of the leaps and bounds the ICE had become since the scorpio first hit the showrooms. Still with the original 7000 system installed my eyes were drawn to new pastures. Glanced briefly at the single 6000 and the multi disc 6006e. All to no avail. These simply weren't worthy as an upgrade. I even looked at the ford cd navigation unit blaupunkt. Found a pre-owned one for silly money,£650. I could buy 3 scorps with that ;D Anyway, i came across this www.oxygenaudio.com/lang-en/ now i dislike iphones and probably dislike iphone users more ;D but, this appears a good way to keep up with the technology without having the debt of Portugal added to the deal. Google oxygen o car iphone and have a glance at a few youtube clips and let me know if i have gone completely mad or not ??? |

Title: Re: The future Post by Dave2302 on May 31st, 2011, 11:19am In case you think you're joking....... You aren't wrong there....... Fly by wire throttles, electronic auto transmission, parking sensors (distance from object sensing), power steering controlled by solenoids to park the new Focus, self braking on the Mercs, "Pin Point" accurate Sat Nav's, ABS and Traction Control.................... Wire that lot to one big powerful ECU and it WILL drive itself ;) Cheers Dave |

Title: Re: The future Post by lesterlad aka Rodders on Jun 2nd, 2011, 4:20pm Folding door mirrors and gull wing doors have been introduced on certain marques for a few years now. How long before the steering wheel becomes obsolete? ------------------------------------ Joystick-controlled Mercedes-Benz SCL600 http://www.carsodd.com/joystickcontrolled-mercedesbenz-scl600/ These images of a futuristic “new Mercedes-Benz SCL600 automobile — include technical innovations such as a joystick in place of a steering wheel, a video monitor in place of a rear-view mirror, and swiveling gull-wing doors — are difficult to classify as “true” or “false.” They are genuine photographs of a real car, but that car was constructed as a research vehicle, not as something to be made available for purchase by consumers (although some of its features may have been, or soon may be, incorporated into commercially-available models), and it isn’t really “new” (in a technological sense), as it was introduced over ten years ago. |

Yep reckon that's how it will be eventually ~ experts reckon given another 20 - 30 years computers will be powerful enough for artificial intelligence. |
