Title: My Scorpio is now officially dead Post by pauldo on Aug 7th, 2011, 9:56pm It is with great regret that i have to announce the death of my Scorpio. After my motorway problems last week my mechanic has informed me that the Scorp is way beyond economical repair. It seems that something happened in the bottom of the engine and triggered a reaction that wrecked the engine. I am absolutely gutted it had a full history and only 50000 miles on the clock. I had owned it for 5 years and apart from a problem with brake discs it never ever let me down once and was an absolute joy to own and drive. So it is now with a heavy heart that i am sending it to the scrappy tomorrow.I have enjoyed my time as a member of the owners club and i have gleaned much useful information over the years. I would like to thank all members for their support and help over the years and wish them all the best with their Scorpio ownership in the years to come.I am sure i will visit the site in the future to see what is happening . who knows i may get another Scorpio in the future. All the best PAULDO |

Title: Re: My Scorpio is now officially dead Post by PJDavis on Aug 8th, 2011, 8:36am A terrible shame. Ownership of older cars can be very touch and go, one serious thing can turn a good car into a worthless piece of scrap right enough. I've had my Scorp for a few years now and would be lost without it, to the extent that if anything serious happened I wouldn't be too hasty in scrapping it. Course it would depend on whether you had enough room to let the car stand, and the know-how of how to strip or change mechanical and body parts. I would have to replace my Scorpio with something else, and would look to have another Scorpio, mine has very good body-work and a lot of nice extras so I would keep my car and donate between it and another. Anything that was left-over I'd put on Ebay after putting on here. I'm sorry to hear of your dead car. |

Title: Re: My Scorpio is now officially dead Post by pauldo on Aug 8th, 2011, 2:25pm Unfortunately the car was at a garage 5 miles from my house and i am unable to move it so i had to phone a scrappy to take it away for me .He is giving me £200 and is scheduled to arrive at 3pm. If i had more time and the car was at home i would have stripped it sympathetically but unfortunately i have to let it go. The scrappy is IBP 110 Carntynehall Rd Glasgow G326AS 0141 778 6999 if anyone needs parts Paul |

Title: Re: My Scorpio is now officially dead Post by Highlander on Aug 9th, 2011, 1:17pm The sad fact is though that if you get to the stage where you need to buy another engine and have it replaced professionally its suddenly not cost effective on a Scorpio..any Scorpio.. Much as we love them, if you remove our rose tinted specs they're just low value, ugly old Fords with very poor economy ;D |
