Get this. Got made redundant today after four months because of lack of work. :( Go figure as I'm a chauffeur. Worked my arse off for the boss and his family and this is my thanks >:(. Back to the drawing board again. Wrong time of year as well!!!!

Sorry to hear that mate  :(

Being as you drive for a living, why not consider being a local cabbie ?.....The local council will licence you as long as you meet the criteria (crb check etc) & pass a local knowledge. It shouldn't take very long to do the local knowledge (a month or two) if you know the area well  ;)

You won't earn as much as a London cabbie, but it's a living that pays the bills.....& depending on how many hours you are prepared to work, then it can be lucrative  :)

I'm so sorry to hear that Lee,

I know for a fact poor old Lee was working all the hours god sent and some more recently, his missus was getting to wonder who the strange fella was when he came home !!

Just goes to show mate, there's them that "have" and that's why they've got  >:(

That's no way to reward you for all them hours >:(

If it makes ya feel any better, everything happens for a reason, I've been in the same boat meself, and find that something better will happen just when you're not expecting it to  ;)

Jonny, there are more cabs in Clacton than there are private cars considering the age of the local population LOL. Can't see myself ferrying all and sundry to and fro for a living, no offence.

Dave, Maybe there is something round the corner, but waiting for it can be a real drag! People aren't usually taken on at this time of year except for temporary work.     Lee

Do have a thought for the poor old boss man and his flock though,they are obviously going to have to drive themselves about and carry out their own errands,back to the real world for them eh ?   :o ::) ;D

Why not offer your knowledge and skills (assuming you have some - and I think you are a hands-on bloke, aren't you?) to fellow desperados with Scorps that can't - or don't want to - do any mechaniking?
You won't make a fortune as they don't go wrong very often, do they, but the odd job might crop up. I had 6 months off last year and it was very unpleasant to say the least, so you have my sympathy.
Might be worth a thought. I'm always fixing my kids' cars - exhausts, brakes, usual service stuff that NONE of them seem inclined or motivated to tackle. Might be a means to keeping the wolf from the door.
