Of course it does, that's why they do it. An MOT certificate can no longer be proof that the vehicle is tested and in date, you have to do that on-line now

Yep it's all on national databases now. If you've ever watched those e.g. BBC 'Motorway Cops' programmes they use ANPR to interrogate the system and flag up any dodgy car that goes past.

Alls well until the person or "thing" does not do the update correctly then if you happen to get stopped you have one heck of a job convincing them its all legal as I know to my dismay!

Did eventually get a letter of apology from the offending department, but NO compensation for the lost time and inconvenience.

Same thing with the V I C certificates now. They are photocopies and tell you the car is what it should be then states that this does not prove the car is what it should be and tells you to phone a number up for confirmation lol.
