The Ford Granada was a reasonably successful and attractive executive saloon. We’ve no idea what Ford was thinking when it introduced this fish-faced replacement, the Scorpio, in 1994. To this day, the company hasn’t revealed the chief designer responsible for its controversial appearance (“Nearly every Ford designer had a go at this one,” said Ford’s product development man at the launch). It wasn’t a sales success either

Paste to google and the feature comes up. No praise for the scorp in this !

I think they're becoming acceptable now - given some of the bland offerings out there now. Trouble is they're disappearing.

I frequently got good comments from people when I pulled up somewhere - usually from previous owners.

I thought it was distinctive and the cabin was a good place to be in - loved it. Many passengers also thought it was a great car to be in.

Mine gets similar attention regularly. Comments like "is it a Granada" and "did they really put a Cosworth engine in there" at which point I lift the bonnet and get "wow"

I reside in West Lancashire and cannot remember the last time I saw another one.

OK, serious necro-posting, but...

As well as odd people coming over to say something about the car when I park outside a shop, am in a petrol station, or them even rushing over and knocking on the window while I'm in a queue waiting at a traffic light, lately I keep getting offers to buy my Scorpio.

Started with a note left under a wiper in the Tesco car park from a woman saying she'd noticed the car each week and really wanted it if i wanted to sell. Then last week a note under the wiper while it was parked in the street in the village where I live from some man wanting me to ring him about him buying the car. Then late this afternoon, repeated knocking on the door, and I open it to find a young woman wanting to know if it's my car, and do I want to sell it.

I actually ended up later going out to check non-one had stuck a bogus 'for sale' sign on the car!

I must say, after finally having the little bit of rust on the edge of the offisde rear wheel arch and a slight dent in the offide front wing attended to, and in the sun, she is looking very handsome - and of course she's an estate. (I never had a problem with the looks of the front of Scorpios, but had to agree the rear end of saloons was pretty ugly). The 'dark aubergine' colour most of the time just looks dark grey, but in the sun, with the light hitting at an angle, it can be very attractive.
