Hi, can anybody advise me if you have to remove  the engine to replace a leaking sump gasket on a 24v. Cheers ??? ???

John,
If you look at http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/CosV6manual.htm you'll find the workshop manual for this procedure.
The engine can stay in place, but it has to be supported from above, while the front crossmember is lowered enough to drop the sump.

From experience it's quite a simple job if you have a ramp.

The only hard part is cleaning the old gasket from the bottom of the block (skinned knuckles) and making sure that the crank seals are in place whilst you get the sump back on.

I don't recommend trying it without a ramp or pit though but it has been done :)
