just tried that repair, and it works a treat... my car has been laid up all week with no wipers, waiting for a new arm to arrive... thanks for the advice!

Cool! Nice to have had a result! ;D

Actually I wouldnt bother with the new arm,this fix works extremely well,as stated before mine has lasted18 months on a car used heavily as a Private Hire vehicle around S.Wales.It has also put up with a torrential downpour in S.France.

The only additional thing I would reccomend is to grease the ball/socket joint occasionally and replace the clips-- on an annual basis maybe.

An chance of another look at your wiper arm fix? My rubber bands at mid point of arms only lasts three months. Your fix sounds better

Why don't you guys just buy new arms? It fits from the granada 92-94. I bought one to my former 2.0 16v -95, it only cost about £12 here in sweden...

I used my girlfriends ?hearband?

(You know, that round thing that girls use to gather theyr hear...... Haha, newer heard the right word for it...)

To fix it untill we got home, this still is on, and works great, use anything, go macyver on the scorp...!

I have fixed the cable clips as shown. They do not appear to hold the ball into the cup securely but there is no downward force on the arm and if yours have lasted they will hopefully do the job.

I take it you have placed the ties in a x-over pattern?
The current pair on mine have been there for about 18 months.
