Hiya guys,

not so good news, driving along the main road this morning to get the my morning paper when bang some asian dude pulled out of a turning and straight into my passenger side sending me flying across the road narrowly escaping the centre island.

Ripped half of my front passenger door and the whole of my back passenger door to shreds aswell as my wheel arch, still drive able but could be a right off.

well gutted and fed up.

does anybody know the book value of a 2.0i 16v ultima ??

Gary up here had his written off and I think he got £1400, the condition was really good and looked immaculate.

Sorry to hear that, get a settlement and the car back and see if you can get it fixed locally, plenty of people breaking them in the parts forum, and of course ebay.

Bad luck Alan, pity about the wheel arch as the doors are plentiful ( though not cheap I'll be bound! ) and easy to replace.

My insurer always asks the value of my car and I always give the highest book figure possible i.e. £2200 . Now, in the event of a write-off would that be the figure I would get ? or else what is the point of asking me?

No chance! I don't know what the point is of asking the value, cos they'll totally ignore it and give you what they think it's worth!

The only bit of advice I can give is 'Do NOT accept the first offer they make' look up the value in several valuation sites and in Parkers and try and asses the value yourself.

If they ask what you want for it tell them the value you would expect for the car bearing in mind the age and condition.

print off adverts from auto trader site, initial offer on mine was 1150, sent them 20 adverts for similar car, next offer 2500, i accepted that on condition I also kept car.

Reciepts for any work done lately eg. new brakes, etc. may help your argument as well.
