My heated seats have never worked and I think its down to the relay. The cigar lighter still works so I think that means the fuse is ok.

My problem is getting at the old relay. I've removed the 2 screws at the top of the panel around the handbrake and I've freed the lugs at the front of the panel which has let me lift the panel a little bit. Enough to see the yellow relay but not enough to remove it and fit another. It looks as though the panel needs to slide forward off of the handbrake lever but it doesn't seem to want to. So how do you actually get at the relay? Am I missing something?

Pull the panel back about 1/4 of an inch which is about all it will go anyway,
give it a wiggle while lifting upwards to release it from the clips then try and lift the front part (there are lugs under here to stop it lifting upwards until its pulled backa bit) and slide it forward off the handbrake.

Ok, thanks Highlander.

That's exactly what I was trying to do but it didn't seem to want to slide off the handbrake. I probably wasn't trying hard enough for fear of breaking siomething. I'll give it another go now I know what's supposed to happen.

I recently had the same problem. I managed to change the relay (thanks Snoopy) without having to completely remove the centre piece of Trim - I just moved it down the handbrake as far as I could. It is possible, but a bit fiddly.

Nodge,

I changed that relay when we got the Scorp, it had exactly the same fault as yours i.e. cig lighters but no heat on seats. I managed to get the relay out without totally removing the trim but did remove most of the skin from my fingers, worth it though ;)

Few months later I wanted to change the handbrake collar so it all had to come out, its just a question of making sure all the clips are undone and pulling really, it will come.

Just feels a bit dodgy when you dont know which way to pull though :)
Once its out you'll see how to do it :)
