Title: Problems with Climate Control Post by Espot on Dec 22nd, 2005, 2:55pm Hi all! This is my first post, and its about a problem i have been suffered some months ago. Sorry for my english... I have a 10/96 Scorpio. The problem is with the climate control, this is the issue: Some day, the 2 climate control temperature displays (one for driver, the other to passenger) start to malfuncion. The numbers can not be read correctly, and it displays extrange digits. If you press on the climate control, it seems to work again, but only for seconds. Also, as i turn on the cc, it goes on-off and on again, like a miss-contact or similar.Thats the point I found this forum. So I try your "cc reset" 3 times, but nothing changes (may be because i can see the number 50 in the passenger display, because the numbers are not clearly displayed). So I decided to get away (extract) the cc control panel from the "fascia" (?), and take a look to it. I took it to my home and unmounted it. It had some contacts with oxide, that i suppose was because my auto-darker back mirror leaks some oil. So I clean this oxide contacts, re-soldered it and mount it back. I install again on the car, and surprise... The driverīs display works well again, but no the passengerīs one, wich stills working badly, with extrange digits... So here I am... I donīt know what more to do... any ideas?? Thanks very much for read my "brick", but as you can see, i need some help... Keep on working, this is a great forum and I am learning a lot of my Scorpio. |

Title: Re: Problems with Climate Control Post by Simmo on Dec 22nd, 2005, 8:12pm If your rear view mirror is leaking you should remove it as the liquid will seriously damage the interior of the car.It usually drops on to the centre consul near the gear lever and eats into the surfaces. Title: Re: Problems with Climate Control Post by Espot on Dec 26th, 2005, 12:22pm Hi. thanks for the replies. I had removed the mirror leak time ago, but I suppose the liquid was inside the climate control unit, so it was slowly oxidying, till it failed. Any more ideas?? thanks! |
