Had the engine topless today and thought i would see if the VIS actuator would open if i raised the revs to over 3500rpm as its supposed to.  ::)

It did not  :'(

Anyone able to tell me how to test it and what the symptoms of a non-working VIS would be?

What might stop the VIS from opening?
