Well today I jacked up the L/H side of the car so that I could see if I could get to where the engine loom is connected to the auto box. not much room to get to the connectors without dropping the back of the box down so I decided to check the loom as best as I could with it still on the car but disconnected to the engine so I could turn it round and check for damage. It all looks ok so I replaced some of the old and brittle plastic covering and put it all back together. Reconnected the battery and she fired up first time, excellent!. I then set off for a drive to see how long it would be until it cut out again but the gear box is stuck in first?????????? It also clucks into reverse and drive. Very confused as it was fine the last time I used her. I checked the ATF and it was low so topped it up with about 1 litre and tried it again. It was the same. Anyone got any Ideas? Mike.

Got to be something like a plug not reconnected or a wire not quite right if it was ok before Mike :-/

Can only suggest you go through the connections, making sure the wires are secure in the plugs.

Thats what I was thinking but I've been alround it again, I had the it all off up to the r/h lambda, didn't even touch the gear box connecters as they were to difficult to get to. I will have another look under the bonnet in a minute now that I have warmed up a bit!

ooops I had not reconnected a vacuum pipe :-[ what a numpty. Running sweat as a nut at the moment !
