Title: cd auto changer Post by sally on Feb 28th, 2006, 9:24pm my radio works fine , but i cant get the cd changer to work , or even to open to put in cds , by pressing the orange button when u press cd on the radio it say no cd detected , dose this mean no cd or dose it mean the changer is not wired up ? |

This may mean you have to remove some of the outer wrapping in order to check the internal wiring. There have been problems with a 'duff' joint in this location which is why it talks about re-soldering the connection if this has occured. |

Title: Re: cd auto changer Post by sally on Feb 28th, 2006, 10:36pm ok thank u , ill look tomorrow will be nice if i find some thing like that as i was in busseys today and i asked them in general if they still make them and they said yes but they are £300 to buy new, i was in busseys as mine had no battery cover on it and ive read on here that is not gd for the electric s so ordered that today ment to be down tomorrow ,only got the car last week and i want every thing to work if possible these are the only 2 things so far , but my guss as i learn more there will be plenty more to buy lol ;D |

Title: Re: cd auto changer Post by Simmo on Mar 1st, 2006, 7:06am When you fit the battery cover make sure that the drain holes at the front of the battery shelf are free from leaves etc as they allow any water to drain away into the engine bay. If they are blocked the fuse box by the battery gets wet and that is NOT good news. |

Title: Re: cd auto changer Post by Daven on Mar 1st, 2006, 7:31am If you have the 7000 series radio - there is a fuse behind the radio - may be worth checking to see if it's blown. The bad earth should not stop power getting to the CD changer, but will stop the remote stalk from working! HTH Dave |

(but i dont know if its true or not )? the remote stalk work fine on the radio so dose that rule out the earth being there lol |

You could test the lead to see if any power is getting there to save taking the radio out - but you will need a multimeter and remove the plastic shroud to get to the plug in the changer If the stalk works for the radio it may mean the cd cable is at fault or the changer itself! Its a case of elimination - which end of the cable do you want to start at ;) Can you get to any meets - I'm sure someone will be able to help! If you do need the radio code - PM me the serial number Dave |

Title: Re: cd auto changer Post by Daven on Mar 6th, 2006, 8:26am Sounds like the changer is faulty then - easiest way would be to swop it with a known good one. There is a know problem with whats know as cold joints on the circuit board - this can sometime be rectified by re-heating the joints with a soldering iron. I played this game for about a year until I gave up and bought another second hand one - may be the easiest option for you! HTH Dave |

Title: Re: cd auto changer Post by sally on Mar 6th, 2006, 5:25pm daven i thought all the wires were live but there not , some were showing current through and some wernt showing none , i surpose all the wires hve to be live? would be nice to come to one of the meets but we need to get the radiator prob sorted first its leek is getting worse :-[ , were all the radiators made the same or would they be diffrent depending on engin size ? as i now know where ther is one for a 2.3? |
