Title: Re: Creeky steering Post by jonnycab on Apr 2nd, 2006, 11:45pm Replaced drop links about a month ago. Just past the MOT so it can't be serious. I'll have a look at the top of the struts.....cheers |

Title: Re: Creeky steering Post by nuttyscorp on Apr 2nd, 2006, 11:53pm possibly ....... it could be the rack itself, i had similar probs a year ago, but with a vibration, it got worse, untill i had to off road the old girl, o/s link arm was shot, and so was the steering rack (freeplay o/s). i'm not sure what gave way 1st, but without doubt they were connected. hth Russ |

Title: Re: Creeky steering Post by jonnycab on May 6th, 2006, 3:14am I know this is an old post but i've only just got around to sorting it out. The creeking noise is coming from the top of the O/S strut (as scorpio_man suggested) and could well be the ball bearing runs. Is there any way have checking it and/or re-greasing the ball bearings without removing the strut & the spring? |

Title: Re: Creeky steering Post by scorpio_man on May 6th, 2006, 8:28am hi there give it a spray with wd40 using the straw. just spray into the lip between the turret and strut. hopefully that will do it. :) |

Title: Re: Creeky steering Post by jonnycab on May 6th, 2006, 6:29pm WD40 didn't seem to do alot, but a liberal spray of 3in1 seems to have worked. Thanks scorpio_man for the advice |
