Title: Boot Lock Post by Paulus on Apr 14th, 2006, 4:55pm Is the button looking thing of the boot of the saloon actually a button? Mine appears to by stuck in the pushed-in position. Secondly, when I put my key in the keyhole, it doesn't actually open the boot, I have to use the remote. What can cause this? Paul. |

Title: Re: Boot Lock Post by Dave on Apr 14th, 2006, 4:58pm Mine was when bought too! Very odd, think it popped out when the car was washed ;D Replaced it shortly after! Try WD40 on it while pushing it, might just free it off. |

Title: Re: Boot Lock Post by craig on Apr 14th, 2006, 5:02pm probably seized up,like some of the door locks on scorpio's as well, you tend to get too used to using the remote to open the car and the boot,WD40 and putting the key in a few times to "play" with the lock sometimes works.. |

Title: Re: Boot Lock Post by sector-9 on Apr 14th, 2006, 7:32pm When I bought my car it was the same (kept setting the alarm off too). Removed the lock barrel from the housing then used wire wool to clean both of them up. Finally copper greased the barrel and fitted it. Worked fine ever since. You'll need some circlip pliers to remove the barrel from the housing - at a pinch you can get by with some watch screwdrivers or small long-nosed pliers. Darren |

Title: Re: Boot Lock Post by drawlings on Apr 14th, 2006, 8:10pm The boot is released by a motor, therefor it should only go in a small way (just enough for the motor to release the boot lock) |
