Title: Re: 2.9 ultima 1995 Post by Geoff_W on Apr 21st, 2006, 8:33am OK Snoopy will have an input on this one, I suspect that your Scorp is a 12valve V6 and I think it operates on a different interface/standard. Is the diagnostic socket in your car in the usual place. Coin box right of steering wheel? |

Title: Re: 2.9 ultima 1995 Post by Snoopy on Apr 21st, 2006, 6:13pm What engine have you got? If it is the 12v then it is NOT OBD ll compatable but can be read using the FDS 2000 system which the dealers have. Otherwise you will have to invest or make a STAR reader details of which are HERE (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/star.htm). I do have a source for BLANK OBD plugs if you want one . ALL the other engines ARE OBDll compliant. |

Title: Re: 2.9 ultima 1995 Post by Snoopy on Apr 22nd, 2006, 6:34am Not been able to find a star tester with an OBD plug on it thats why you have to make your own or adapt a commercial one ... Halfords sell a Star tester for the Scorpio and it uses the connectors under the bonnet but I have never tried one but I think other members have see if any one else posts . They are about £20 AFAIK suppose you couls always adapt one . |

Title: Re: 2.9 ultima 1995 Post by g.wass on Apr 22nd, 2006, 7:08am I have a 12v 2.9 95 Like yours with same diagnostic socket. A local garage to me has all the equipment to test and charged me £15 for a full diagnostic. No all garages have this so he travels round the local area doing diagnostics for them. No good to you if you live miles away but someone local to you must have similar setup. It is very portable. Basically just a laptop and adapters plus software. Ford main dealers should have it but my local Ford charges £60 per hour. Lots of overheads with flashy showroom and workshops but if they cure any problems it is worth it. |
