Title: Vibration when idling Post by cossieguy on Oct 17th, 2006, 11:52am When car is warm and i'm in neutral the car vibrates, not greatly but is noticeable. I've cleaned the MAF and put a new(Secondhand) IACV on and the idle revs are ok. What could cause this vibration? When i look at engine you can see it moving around. I know the engine is supposed to be able to move a little under load but surely it should be hardly moving when not under load. |

[] Sounds sensible. Where are the mounts and how do I check them? Never had any dealings with these before on any car. I'm assuming this wont be as straight forward as i'd like it to be |

I don't (yet) know about the Scorpio in particular, but generally- The engine plus gearbox will be on three rubber mountings, one either side of the engine and one maybe two at the gearbox. They fit between a bracket on the engine and the chassis and should be easy to find. Just look for splitting or or indications of wear. Replacing them is usually a matter of undoing the fixings on one side, jacking up the engine and slotting a new one in. The work of a couple of hours at the most. |
