Post by REDRDLC on Oct 22nd, 2006, 8:55pm
My 1995 24v has decided to start throwing all the engine coolant out of the overflow on the header tank when i've parked up.Could it be the thermostat not opening up?
Dind't help being 230 miles from home on a Sunday, got home ok with a couple of top ups! ???

Sounds like the stat or the waterpump both would stop the coolant circulating.

Pressure release cap on the coolant tank might be broken or wrong spec?
I had one do that, could drive it 300 miles with no problem, including short stops but once it was parked and started cooling down the whole lot was dumped on the drive

Hi all thanks for the help.I haven't tried to see if the rad and hoses get hot yet as it was getting dark and chucking it down with rain and i was in my good kit. There are no leaks to be seen around the rad or hoses and it seemed to be just the overflow and no where else where it was leaking from.I bought a new cap on route and that made no difference.I have also got a new thermostat to put on so i will try that if the rad stays cool after a good spin.Off work this week so i can get dirty with it as it has one or two other niggles to sort out which i will probably post questions about during the week.
