Title: Sunroof Post by cossieguy on Nov 4th, 2006, 12:04pm Went to use my sunroof for the first time in a couple of weeks and nothing >:( No motor noises even. Rear windows are working and I believe these share the same fuse so not a fuse problem. Do the motors on these just go like that? No other electrical problems just the roof. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. PS how do you get the cowling off? Removed the 2 retaining screws but it still doesn't want to budge, is it just very stiff? Guy. |

Title: Re: Sunroof Post by scorpio_man on Nov 4th, 2006, 12:49pm hi there have a read of my/geoff w's write up. http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/sunroof.htm you need to bend the motor cover a wee bit, then take the motor out. grease/oil as shown, then try moving the glass by hand (easier by 2 people). hth |

Title: Re: Sunroof Post by Simmo on Nov 4th, 2006, 2:36pm Guy, The cover is held along the back edge by two spring clips. They are b....y tight and I find that if you pull the unit backwards and try to get a little sideways movement on it at the same time it does help. Basically wiggle it backwards. This (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/sunroofmtr.htm) link may also help in addition to the one Andrew has provided. |

Title: Re: Sunroof Post by cossieguy on Nov 7th, 2006, 9:47am Sunroof now working! :) Knew it wasn't the fuse, so what else could stop power? Checked R27 in Aux box in glove box, it was loose, reseated relay and hey presto. Thanks for advise gents. Guy. |

Title: Re: Sunroof Post by Spannerdemon on Nov 7th, 2006, 4:02pm Good bit of advice for everybody with a sunroof. Sunroofs generally jam up through lack of use and almost nil maintenance. They deserve better!! ;D During the winter months, open and shut your sunroof at least a couple of times a month, just to keep everything moving. A spray of WD40 along the slides and a wipe round the seals with a bit of clean damp cloth only takes a couple of minutes. Doesn't take much. but can save such a lot of hassle, and next Summer it will open without any problem. :D |
